Sorts of Emotions

On my blog this morning, I vented about the continuous downpour of rain. Unfortunately, it refuses to leave. Drizzle lang and pahinga. Here at home, call it Girl Scout mode or paranoia, candles, matchsticks and rechargeable lamps are put on the center table. Mobile phones and Pro are charged once the battery levels reach <80%. All prepaid networks were loaded. I discussed with Mayet should worse scenarios happen, God please,no, Mamang and Kakay will be the top priorities. I don't wanna imagine having to transfer Madame in her wheelchair at the 2nd home level. :( I checked her medicines to make sure we have ample supply. We try to limit news viewing since she gets distressed with what she sees and hears.

It hit me when Mamang said, "Kanita, ali naman lulbug." I know Mang. Kasi noon, there are still trees surrounding the environment, kasi noon, rivers weren't mushroomed with waste, kasi noon, simple and laid-back life was the thing.:( Looking back, when I was way younger, I really loved the rain. I love to sleep hugging my pink blanket. I collected peaceful and sound nights then. Now that I am old, strong rains give me heightened alertness. Flood-free areas years ago are not spared from disasters anymore. Di ko ata talaga kayang tanggapin pag and kanto ko na and babahain!!:(

On the other hand, my heart swells with the thought that goodness in mankind is at its best in catastrophic events such as what is happening now. The heroic deeds of the rescuers and volunteers are awe-inspiring. I casually told Mayet,"Kung ako si Noy, after ng bagyo, to-treat ko lahat yan pati pamilya nila sa Hongkong Disneyland."The bayanihan in Commonwealth Avenue to save the trapped people offered sunshine to an otherwise dark Tuesday.Malls offered free parking and shelter to stranded citizens. Mediamen continue to brave the dangerous weather to bring to us the latest news, it makes me think of my first college course choice- Journalism. These and the rest deserve our gratitude and applause.

The hanging habagat may relentlessly stay for a few more hours or days, the resilience and generosity of Pinoys I am sure though, will prove to be more powerful. Let me quote this from Twitter: " The Philippines may be a third world country, but we, Filipinos have a heart that exceeds first world countries."

Hi God, please take care of us. Sta.Ana and Mama Mary, embrace us. Thanks.

Pray.Hope.Pray.
