On my demised Friendster account , there is this question "Who do you like to meet?" found in the profile category. My choices were,in no particular order: Gabby Lopez(CEO,ABS-CBN),Marat Safin(former Grand slam tennis champ),Danding Cojuangco(Chairman,SMC). This was in 2004. I saw Danding in Cuneta Astrodome 3 years past.I even had a brief chat with him plus a photo to boot. He was perplexed with my giddiness towards him. I'll try to catch Gabby in Rockwell soon.As for Marat,I know he's retired  and my list has changed. In this evolution,Tiger Woods and Kobe Bryant were on top of my paper. Being the ever mababaw that I am, imagine my gladness to meet Tiger in Hongkong,in Madame Tussaud though.:) I hugged him.

As for Kobe, fate wasn't quite kind to me with his previous visits in Manila. It's either I had no company to join me or he'd come on my work days. I had to tell myself,siguro gusto nya sa California na lang kami magkita. Then as luck would have it,while we were in Bonifacio High Street on June 27,billboards of Nike outlet were screaming HIS visit.Whhaattttt???? I panicked.

Fast forward to JULY 13,2011. THE Kobe Bryant in flesh is REAL !

Excited as we were,we had to have something to eat before HE arrives or else we might faint due to lack of glucose.It was funny how Sha,Ville and I were trying to stay calm and composed.We did not order much since the pile of people outside Friday's is building up fast.

Purple and yellow basketball fans waited under the scorching heat of the sun,patiently waiting for Black Mamba's arrival. It is a delightful feeling to see hoi polloi of various ages to gather and welcome the MVP.Leg pain made its presence felt.We did not dare move from our location since it's a reliable place to catch Kobe.

Finally,after shedding some pounds from perspiration and walking and standing, THE KOBE BRYANT aka Black Mamba and my forever MVP is on the stage.YEEYYYYY!! Kobe,Kobe,Kobe!

Haveeyyyy to see you in flesh,soooo reallll! My kuyas would envy me,I bet my pwet! It is indeed a wish come true for me.Anyhow,wait for me again in Staples Center,alright.I promise I will scream my lungs out to cheer for you on a championship game.

Black Mamba as I rightfully predicted is good looking. I super like his impish yet sweet grin. His body built and height could give runway models a run for their money. Don't argue,I am a fan. Kobe is a THICK tie that binds me with my brothers.This is probably why I hold him dearly in my heart. Those times Koyang Mark could not sleep well after Lakers heartbreaking losses,my niece Kadie chanting Kobe,Kobe,and Koyang Balu's fascination for him are serious matters in my family. Need I add,Koyang Miller almost named his only child,Justin Kobe?? I vehemently detested it because I used to be a strong Kobe-hater. More on this someday.

 

Seeing Kobe live is an actual memorable and worthy day for me. I was fortunate that his show was a rest day for me.I was tongue-tied soon as he surfaced on stage. For a split second, everything seemed very surreal. It was only when I heard Sharon cheered "I love you,Kobe" that I realized it was indeed happening in actuality. I wanted to cry,my heart did its share of dysrhythmias. A very priceless day in my lifetime.

Thank you to Mr. and Mrs. Dizon for sharing my passion for Kobe.I am lucky to have you.Always and always.

Take Every Advantage was Kobe Bryant's theme on his most recent visit in Manila. There's also,Hunt Or Be Hunted.Apllied to real life with the daily and not-so-welcome gruelling tasks and trials,we can always rise above the challenge.
