To witness this annual festive celebration of our university is one of the non-financial perks in my work. Raised as a Marian devotee by Mother Hen, my relationship with the Virgin is one thing I always consciously try to nurture and cultivate. Her intercession and protection prove to be at all times powerful. Thank you Lord, for our Mother.

Lifted from UA Campus Ministry Office publication:
What the Assumption is NOT...
The doctrine of the Assumption says that at the end of her life on earth, Mary was assumed body and soul, into heaven. Some people think Catholics believe Mary "ascended " into heaven. That is not correct. Christ by His own power, ascended into heaven. Mary was assumed or taken up into heaven by God. She didn't do it under her own power.
Mary assumed into heaven, pray for us.
