Holy Week

Today marks the start of Holy Week,Palm Sunday. During our Lenten retreat held in Tagaytay last February, significant facts and informations were shared pertaining to the celebration of Holy Week. Today for instance, the ceremonies are colored with sorrow but with gratitude. Priests's vestments are donned in red because of Christ's passion. Palm Sunday chronicles the mystery of the death, burial and resurrection of the Lord.

Our parish priest,Fr.Josel Henson gave a short yet remarkable homily this morning. Three things to ponder:
  1. The Cross is a big part of our lives. Everyone has its share of cross.
  2. Let us own our cross. Do not pass it to someone else. In Nursing, this is called displacement ,a defense mechanism.
  3. The cross in our lives, in God's time, will make us stonger and closer to Him.
Sandwiched between Palm Sunday to Easter Sunday are church activities, as has been the tradition in the family, I plan to attend masses and processions as scheduled. This year, it is particularly more special because my nieces, Kadie and Mykee will be among the angels.Their wings and halos are waiting for them.

I have always been in love with Holy Week. It sounds weird knowing it entails fasting, penance and abstinence. However, it is the best time for me to dwell and carefully reflect on Jesus's amazing love for me. Imagine, He agreed to suffer unjustly and die on the cross for a twisted and histrionic girl like me. Ain't that awesome?
To join Christ on His way to Calvary, I will refrain from rice meal till Easter Sunday. This would be a verryyy difficult task on my part because my tummy and brain would agree on hunger satisfaction only with rice. What's your way of sacrifice?
